The following pledge was stated by all nurses at St. Vincent's

The Child, My Pledge

I pledge myself to keep in mind

the good of the child

By my effort to increase my knowledge

in the filed of Child Care.

I will respect the child as a gift

from the hand of God and shall try

to fit myself for this responsibility

that I am undertaking by thought, study

labor and prayer.

I pledge anew my interest and zeal,

my physical and mental resources,

my loyalty and prayers.

I implore God that His hands may uphold

His children and that His Blessed Mother

may always protect them, so that their happiness

in this life may be all that

befits children of God and that their reward

in the next may be exceedingly great.

Nursing Memories From the 60"s

When we had our reunion in 1995, many nurses that came shared with us their favorite memories of the 60"s.

"I remember working with the two and three year olds and sitting them down at their little tables, putting on their bibs, then putting the bottom of their bibs on the table and the dinner plates on top.  Before we would serve them. they would say, "Please and thank you, mommy".

"Christmas Day and we picked out the beautiful outfits for the children to wear.  They were all red".

"Taking the children for wagon rides to the park and stopping for ice cream on the way home".
